The Kano state government in northern Nigeria has laid claim to the removal of King Muhammadu Sanusi II from office. The Secretary of State for the state, Alhaji Usman Alhaji, issued a statement on Monday explaining the reasons for the removal. The statement said all members of the state executive council had agreed to remove King Sanusi II. Almost all commentators anticipate the incident, which is the rift between Kano governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and King Muhammadu Sanusi II. However, the situation has come as a surprise to many people other than the close ties with the state government.
