Nigerian lawmakers are planning a two-week break to tackle the spread of Coronavirus.
The House of Representatives passed a motion to go on the holiday to allow parliamentary authorities to prepare a test kit in the House to determine who enters the halls and offices of the House.
In a statement, the council said it approved the bill after a lengthy debate in the Senate.
Some of the demands of the bill include the establishment of a special committee to work with health authorities in the country to prevent the spread of the disease in the country.
The Council also called on the Ministry of Information and Culture to raise awareness about coronavirus.
Hon Abdulrazak Namdas, a member of the House of Representatives, told the BBC that the parliament had not yet started the holiday, but the two chambers would be convened to announce the departure date.
Namdas said the parliament is a place where politicians and other people are stepping in, but there are no test instruments to assess.
He said that is why it is necessary to go on vacation even for two weeks to bring these products to the test before they can enter.
Last year, the outbreak of coronavirus in Nigeria surged in over two months.
However, the Nigerian National Disaster Prevention Agency (NCDC) has said that the government has set up a testing and treatment center in all the states.
