Former INEC president Maurice Iwu says he has discovered the 'cure' of Coronavirus

Nigerian media quoted former INEC chairman Prof Maurice Iwu as saying that it was possible to detect Covid-19, or coronavirus. So far, more than 3,000 people have been killed by the virus across the globe, and Nigeria is one of the countries most affected by the outbreak. Since the outbreak in China last year, there has been no cure for it. The vaccine is not expected to be available until mid-next year, because researchers in the United States are testing coronavirus vaccine on animals. But on Monday, Professor Maurice Iwu, who heads the Bio-Resources Institute of Nigeria, met with the minister of health and science to seek support for the treatment he said he discovered, according to Vanguard. Prof Iwu, who is currently facing charges of tax fraud in a Nigerian court, is quoted as saying his team of investigators "discovered Covid-19 in 2015". Not long ago, Professor Iwu once claimed he had discovered AIDS.

He wants the government to fund his team to produce more antibiotics.
Sahara Reporters quoted Mohamed Abdullahi, Minister of Science and Technology, as saying that they had sent the material to a special committee of the Nigerian Academy of Science for analysis.
"As part of the discussion on Coronavirus (Covid-19), Professor Maurice Iwu was welcomed by the Department of Science and Technology, who told us that he had found a vaccine that could cure Covid-19.
"The Ministry of Science and Technology has forwarded the treatment to a special committee of the Nigerian Academy of Sciences to review them. The Head of the Institute will lead other experts to ascertain the truth of this claim," he said.
